Living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or other autoimmune neurological conditions can be challenging. These conditions affect the nervous system in complex ways. Symptoms vary from person to person and can change over time. General medical advice is often not enough. You need a specialist who understands the full range of symptoms, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments.
Early assessment is important. Getting the right diagnosis and care early can slow the progression of the disease. It also helps prevent complications and improves long-term quality of life. Our clinic is designed to bridge the gap between early symptoms and long-term stability.
Our care is led by Dr Sarmad Al-Araji, consultant neurologist with a PhD from University College London (UCL). He specializes in personalized multiple sclerosis treatment, focusing on evidence based therapies tailored to each patient’s condition and lifestyle. Dr Al-Araji is also a private MS specialist in the UK, with extensive clinical experience in diagnosis, long-term disease management, and treatment planning for complex cases. This means each patient receives a treatment plan tailored to their symptoms, lifestyle, and disease profile.
We provide expert multiple sclerosis care in Birmingham to support patients at every stage of their journey. We use advanced therapies and evidence-based strategies. These are designed to reduce attacks, manage symptoms, and maintain quality of life. Our approach combines medical treatment with lifestyle guidance and ongoing monitoring.
We believe in clear pricing without hidden costs. Our fees for private neurology consultations are as follows:
If any tests are needed, we will explain them first. You will know the cost before any test is done.
Dr Sarmad Al-Araji is a Consultant Neurologist and experienced multiple sclerosis doctor based in the Midlands, providing specialist care for patients with MS and autoimmune neurological conditions. In 2024, he was appointed by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. He now provides specialist care at our Sutton Coldfield clinic.
Dr. Al-Araji’s clinical practice is deeply rooted in cutting-edge research. He earned his PhD in Clinical Neurology from University College London (UCL), where he focused his doctoral studies on individualised treatment responses. This advanced research background allows him to take a precision-medicine approach to multiple sclerosis treatment, tailoring therapies to the unique biological and lifestyle profile of each patient rather than relying on a “one size fits all” solution.
Having completed his specialist neurology training within the West Midlands Deanery, Dr. Al-Araji has a deep connection to the local medical community. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and holds a Specialty Certificate in Neurology, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence and modern neurological standards.

Common early signs include vision problems (blurriness or double vision), tingling in the limbs, extreme fatigue, and difficulty with balance. If these symptoms last longer than 24 hours, you should consult an MS specialist.
There is no single test for MS. Diagnosis involves a combination of a neurological exam, MRI scans of the brain and spine, and sometimes a lumbar puncture to rule out other autoimmune neurological disorders.
Current treatment options for MS include highly effective Disease Modifying Therapies (DMTs) such as B-cell depleting infusions, oral S1P modulators, and traditional interferons, all aimed at slowing disease progression.
You should ask for a referral if you have a first episode of neurological symptoms, called a “Clinically Isolated Syndrome“. You should also seek a referral if your GP thinks you may have an autoimmune nervous system condition.
